How to disable pad wear sensor warning light

Note: When bypassing the pad thickness warning light it is up to the user to monitor pad thickness. Failure to do so can result in damaging the rotors, pads and/or failure of the brake to operate properly.

Many Audi/VW aftermarket pads do not come with wear sensors installed.

Option 1:

Often the fix is to cut off the old sensor, splice the wires together and plug the modified cable back into the stock harness.

Option 2:

Another option is to shut off the warning using a tool such as VCDS or OBD11. To permanently shut the light off do the following. This has been tested on the Audi 8V, 8S wnd Mk7 Golf platform and may work on many others.

• Go to the module “Central Electronics” then select “Adaptations”

• Search for HW_Verbau and select “Not Installed”

• When prompted use security code 31347
